I go to Uni and want to use my mothers car wen i'm back at home in the hols. Trouble is I'm only 18 and the car is a VR6 Highline, with UK group 16 insurance. My gf's son was in an accident last Saturday; not his fault. Other driver pulled out in front of him and police have assigned full liability to that driver. His truck is a 86 Nissan D21 pickup and the damage is pretty bad. Estimate so far is about $3800 to fix and www.kbb.com lists this vehicle's value at $2100 (actually had to use an 87 to compare; they don't have older). Clearly the insurance is going to total the vehicle. Yesterday we finally got the rental car (son is driving her car). Today the insurance company is telling her that she can only have the car till Saturday. I'm thinking she keeps the car until the matter is resolved. That is, she has a check in hand for the market value of the vehicle or it is fixed. Secondly: the check won't cover fixing the vehicle yet it's a great little truck and worth fixing. Engine appears to be fine as does the chassis. Can we sue the driver for the difference between the settlement and the repair?

Things like death, DISM and UEMP . I've no idea what the last 2 are; or if I should or shouldn't get it. I have been with Nationwide Insurance for 21 years. Your normal every day insurance can never come close to their rates and Nationwide has always had outstanding service. As we all know, money is lean these days so there are two companies I want to check out. Hello, I Live in the UK, I am 22 years old and I have a Kia picanto which is my everyday car. My girlfriend is the main driver and owner and I am a named driver on the policy. I have a Subaru Impreza which I want to use at weekends etc and only little use. Is there any sort of Insurance for this? Its a 1998 plate so don't think I qualify for classic cover. Basically I will do about 500 miles a year in the Subaru and can't afford the 4000 for the year. I know a lot of people will say just sell it etc etc. But I love the car and owned for the last year and do not want to sell. I just want a little help please. With the cost of petrol etc I no longer use the Subaru as everyday use as it gets me about 11 MPG and the Kia about 53 MPG and can't afford two full price premiums. I cant find car insurance that will cover a learner driver and a passed driver for a month?

I am trying to pass my test as soon as possible but didn't have access to a car to do extra practice between lessons. So I have bought a car before I have passed so that I can go out practising with my mum. However I cant find any short cover (1 month) insurance which will insure us both, they seem to only do learner driver insurance which has to be bought on top of the normal insurance OR only insure drivers with a full license. However buying both together is over 300 for only 28 days for the ones I checked. Can anyone come up with an affordable way to practice in my own car? Thanks

So, i got my motorcycle license last summer and bought a 2003 Kawasaki ZX6R for $5000. My insurance from Progressive was $1700 for the year (full coverage). I rode it for two months before it got stolen. In those two months i got one ticket for straddling lanes. Once the bike got stolen i got all my money back. Now, I'm looking to get the same bike again. I just called Progressive and they want $6056 per year for full coverage!!!! And if i were to buy a brand new 2007 model it would be $10000!! So, $6056 for a $5000 bike? And $10000 for a $9000 bike? What gives? One ticket and the theft did this? I don't get it. What are my options?

Ok, I have a friend who is going out of state for two weeks. I do not have a vehicle that runs and therefore do not carry any auto insurance coverage. We have Geico. And a 2007 Toyota Yaris. When my boyfriend moved in, we called to see how much it would be to put him on our insurance as an occasional driver. It was 1000 for 6 months. Then they made us mail him something as proof he wasn't living there or they were going to charge us anyways! So now we got a letter that says they did it anyways and they want more proof. His insurance for his broken down car is at our address cause he was living with us then moved out. His license and everything is still at his old home. Even if he moves out, we can't prove he doesn't live there cause they want a utility bill with his name on it! What can we do? Is this legal? We don't have the money to switch insurances.
